Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology

Introduction

The department of gynecology & obstertrics has become one of the trustworthy dependable and well  organized  department  since 1970 From the  beginning our efficient devoted teachers and staff giving   relentless   service to  the huge  number  of  patient  load of antenatal, post natal, gyne- cological   and   different   places including   surrounding   districts, even different division. We are heartily dedicated for under-graduate (3rd, 4th, 5th yr MBBS) and postgraduate  students

  • Total DGO completed up to January 2019-55.
  • Total MS (Gynae) Completed up to January 2019 – 28
  • Residency (BSMMU) 2 stud-ents completed thesis part.
  • Emergency  services:  In each admission about 150-200 patients get emergency service and 20-30 emergency CS, ruptured   ectopic  pregnancy, ruptured uterus, D & C, Twisted   ovarian   tumors   is done daily.
  • Routine gynaecological pe-ration on an average 3-5 cases per day are performed.

Activities

The Department has active and vibrant activities in all aspects – which include education, research as well as patient care. It is currently made up of 3units. Our teaching commitments are to over 200 undergraduate medical students, to more than 20 residents in obstretics and gynaecology. Main objectives of learning is to make them confident to diagnose common gynecological & obstretical problems, identifying emergencies and give appropriate managements. We are arranging about 12- 15 hours lectures for 5th year & 3-4  hours lectures for 4th year MBBS students, in every month. For clinical classes ward placement  are done for 3rd year and 5th year students. Regular ward round morning and evening clinical classes bed/side teaching/tutorial classes/ block posting for 5th year student enriched their knowledges.

Grand round with clinical discussion:

In each & units of obstritics & Gynaecology department of RMCH it starts under the supervision of unit heads, (Except in OT days).

Scientific Session:

Every Saturday morning in Ward-11 conference room of Department of Obstritics & Gynae of RMCH one day in a weekly.

Case Discussion:

In each unit of department of obstetrics & Gynae of RMCH one day in a weekly.

Audit and Death Review:

Every 4th / 5th Saturday of each month in department of Obstritics & Gynae, RMCH.

CME Program:

In rotation with other department about 06 in a year in conference room, RMCH.

Undergraduate Course:

Department deals with the course of Obstritics & Gynaecology for MBBS 3rd , 4th and 5th year students followed by final professional examination at the end of the course.

Postgraduate Course:

Students of 4 different courses are successfully ongoing in the department of obs & Gynae every year, MS (Residency), MS (Non-Residency), DGO and FCPS (Gynae) course students are successfully completing the course from department of Obs & Gynae RMCH.
