Introduction

Orthodontics & dentofacial orthopedics a branch of dentistry that is highly concerned about the malocclusion of dentition & abnormalities of growing & matured dentition & associated skeleton.

Department of Orthodontics of Rajshahi Medical College dental unit started its functioning in 1989. It has been rendering its academic program to under graduate  BDS from the very beginning of its establishment.

Activities of the Department of Orthodontics

  • Lectures on growth and development, occlusion, and malocclusion
  • Case-based discussions and treatment planning exercises
  • Preclinical laboratory training on wire bending and appliance fabrication
  • Clinical diagnosis and orthodontic treatment of malocclusion
  • Removable and fixed appliance therapy
  • Cephalometric analysis and model study for treatment planning
  • Follow-up and retention management
  • Clinical case presentations, logbook maintenance, and record keeping
  • Continuous clinical evaluation, viva, and assessments
  • Participation in seminars, workshops, and academic training sessions
