Introduction
Dental Public Health is the scientific discipline concerned with the prevention and control of oral diseases and the promotion of oral health through organized community efforts. As a vital branch of dentistry, Dental Public Health focuses on epidemiology, biostatistics, health education, preventive strategies, and health policy to improve the oral health status of populations rather than individuals. It integrates clinical knowledge with community-based approaches to address common oral health problems such as dental caries, periodontal diseases, malocclusion, and oral cancer. Dental Public Health provides the essential link between research evidence and its practical application in community and national health programme.
The Department of Dental Public Health is responsible for teaching this subject to undergraduate dental students in the final (4th phase) of the BDS course. The department consists of committed faculty members and motivated students who take pride in pursuing excellence in education, research, and community service to advance the oral health of the nation.
